Diana Kral-BlancheSenior Closing CoordinatorResides: Sarasota, Fla.Started with POP Yachts: January 2012Q. What's a day like in the closings department at POP Yachts? We handle all of the inspections for buyers. We do all the coordinating for surveys, all the title searches, closing documents and work with financing. We're the last stop for the customers in the whole process. Q. What were you doing before you came to POP Yachts? Before this, I was a teacher, believe it or not. I'm good friends with an old employee who brought me on board at POP Yachts. I taught kindergarten in Manatee County.Q. Why did you choose to leave teaching?Once you're in teaching, there's not much room for growth, and I wasn't interested in a school board position or anything like that. I was ready for a change. It was fun - I came over to POP and the atmosphere was different. The industry was new and it was exciting. It was a good change.Q. How did that transition go for you?Part of my concern in the beginning was that I knew absolutely nothing about what they did at POP. The position required that I deal with money, and numbers were never my friend. Between that and not knowing anything about boats, I was concerned that it wasn't a good fit for me, but it worked out really well.Q. Were you surprised at your adaptability?Yes! The change was really easy. All of it surprised me.Q, What does it take to be successful in this position? The biggest thing is multitasking. It's all I do all day. We're working sometimes anywhere from 20-40 different files at a time. We're constantly doing a ton of things at once.Q. What do you see for future of POP Yachts? We're launching a lot of new things in my department. We're getting into Coast Guard documentation and title and registration services for our customers. That's all going to be new to me and the department and create a whole new learning experience. I'm hoping that's as successful as everything else has been.Q. What's one thing people need to have a successful, drama-free closing?Patience. People get kind of frustrated because the process can be a little lengthy. It can feel like a house closing sometimes. But the reason for it is to protect everybody's best interest -- to protect our buyers and our sellers. We want to provide a buyer with a transferable, free and clear title. In order to do that, we have due diligence on our end.Q. What's going on in your life outside of POP Yachts?I was just married in November ... we have an 8 year old son together, so we like hanging out with the family.
