When you listen to how brokers and reviewers talk about Monterey Boats, it's not in grand, sweeping descriptions that could apply to nearly any make or model. For the Monterey line of boats, it's easy to see that the goods are all in the details. There are several attributes to the Monterey Boats that are almost always noted: The sleek, modern design that "looks fast standing still" and color options in reds, greys, white and black and others; the ample and often convertible seating; seemingly endless storage and draining lockers and automotive-inspired controls at the helm.Other touches found on Monterey Boats models, that include sports boats, M series, super sports and cruisers, are the extended swim platforms, well-placed grab handles and snap-in carpets that all nod to the care that Monterey puts into onboard safety. The multiple molded drink holders and speakers are just two other details that express that these boats are all about fun on the water.Monterey Boats, one of a few independently owned boat manufacturers, turn out more than 2,000 boats per year. The company says on its website that it employs 500 full-time boat builders, making it the largest private employer in Levy County, located in central Florida, north of Orlando. The family-operated company says it's able to be agile in the market and make quick decisions. And that sure has been shown when looking back over Monterey's 25-year history. What started as a relatively small facility producing three models in 1985, Monterey has diversified and grown, adapting what it calls a cutting-edge Mediterranean look to its vessels. Through the years, it has adapting state-of-the-art technology in development and design, including CAD technology, air-assist for faster planing and creating hybrid models that pair the best of both worlds in speed, size and cruising. And if that's not enough, Monterey Boats gets all this done at pretty reasonable prices. Take a look through POP Yachts' listings of dozens of Monterey models. You'll find nearly every price point and model type available. For starters, check out the 2014 Monterey 21 pictured above.
