In its earliest years, Carver Yachts was a company known for its mahogany, hand-built boats. Founders Charles Carter and George Verhagen (whose last names lend the first three letters to make the company name) began building in the mid-1950s in Wisconsin. Carter and Verhagen were some of the last holdouts in moving into the world of fiberglass, but made the switch in the 1970s with the introduction of the 33 Mariner. Over the next several decades, Carver would introduce a variety of yacht styles for buyers who wanted elegance and room to roam in their long-distance power yachts. One thing that hasn't changed since those early days is the nod toward luxurious amenities on Carver vessels and the fact that each power yacht is made by hand, one at a time, according to the company's website. Today's Carver yachts bring many of the comforts of home onboard, paired with exquisite and smart design. Newly launched boats, such as the C37, include innovations like an integrated design that brings the galley, salon, cockpit, dinette and helm all into one space. Some of the luxurious additions that those looking to buy Carver boats can find include cable television outlets, wine racks, teak or oak tabletops, fully loaded galley and enclosed shower stalls and motorized sunroofs. Capt. Richard Thiel who writes for the Power and Motoryachts website had this to say about Carver's 2013 C24 cruiser: "All I cared about was the amount of interior space and comfort; it was nothing short of phenomenal and on par with boats 8 feet longer." At POP Yachts, we have dozens of Carver boats listed for sale, including the stunning 1995 Carver 355 Aft Cabin pictured above.
